The Mk2 Ford Escort is an iconic car that remains extremely popular with competitors across the world even today. Car specifications vary considerably from full specification FIA homologated historic specification cars to very special highly powerful lightweight cars mostly used for tarmac rallies. Over the years we have been involved with quite a few of these cars and all of different specifications.
This car was bought by one of our customers from a competitor in the Republic of Ireland. It was basically a good specification for clubman rallying with a 2.0 litre Vauxhall engine, Quaife sequential gear box, 15” wheels and bigger brakes.
We ran this car for several years while at our old Chedburgh workshop gradually tidying it up and improving the specification over time with a fresh engine, new wiring throughout, repairs to the shell along with the usual rebuilds of suspension, brakes, transmission etc.
